VMI의 공급사슬업적에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구

This study investigates the impact of vendor managed inventory (VMI) systems on supply chain performance under the market where the demand of the product is sensitive to its price. Three supply chain systems –traditional system, VMI system, and fully coordinated system - are differentiated in terms of decision authority, information sharing, and cost payment. Each supply chain model is composed of the set of mathematical models, which represents series of multiple decision-making steps, and numerical examples are used to compare the profits of three different supply chain systems. Outcomes of the numerical examples show that the VMI system outperforms the traditional system, but is less profitable than the fully coordinated system. Profit increase at the VMI system is caused by revenue increase rather than cost savings. Both supplier and buyer increase their own profits at the VMI and fully coordinated systems compared with the traditional system. At the VMI system, the buyer receives huge benefits, even more than the ones at the fully coordinated system. Under the fully coordinated system, however, most benefits of coordination go to the supplier. This result indicates that any program for supply chain coordination may need to equip the way to equally distribute its benefits to every participant in order to achieve the successful coordination.
