본 연구는 병원의 간호사를 대상으로 유머와 업무성과 정도를 파악하고 이들의 관계를 규명하여, 간호관리에 적용함으로써 간호서비스의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하는 서술적 상관관계 연구이다. 자료수집은 2003년 4월 1일부터 20일까지 G시에 위치한 C 대학병원 169명을 대상으로 조사하였으며, 연구도구로 유머는 송길원(1998)이 작성한 총 25문항을 사용하였으며, 본 연구의 신뢰도는 Cronbach's α= .88, 간호업무성과는 Joan과 Warren(1976)의 간호업무분류에서 발췌하여 박현태(1997)가 수정 보완한 측정도구로 구성된 총 23문항을 사용하였으며, 신뢰도는 Cronbach's α= .94이었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS를 이용하여 ANOVA와 Pearson's correlation coefficient로 분석하였다.연구결과를 종합해 보면, 간호사가 간호조직에 유머감각을 높게 지각할수록 간호업무 성과가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 간호실무에서 간호업무성과를 높이기 위해 근무상황을 부드럽게 유도할 수 있는 유머 감각을 간호관리 조직에 적용함으로써 간호서비스의 질을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
Purpose: The present study attempts to identify the correlation between a sense of humor in nurses and their performance. The purpose is to help improve the quality of nursing services by effectively applying the findings about the correlation to nursing management. Method: A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted to 169 nurses in C university hospital located in G city. The reliability of the survey examined by Cronbach's α was .88. Nursing performance was measured using a 23-item tool developed by Joan and Warren(1976) and modified and complemented by Park (1997). Its Cronbach's α was .94. Collected data were processed using the SPSS statistical program.Result: 1) There was no significant difference in a sense of humor in nurses dependent on their general characteristics (p>0.05). 2) Significant differences were observed in the nursing performance according to some of the general characteristics: age, work experience, position, marital status and Monthly income (F=3.77, F=5.11, F=7.52, F=2.98, F=3.39, p<.01). 3) Nursing performance was higher in the nurses with a better sense of humor (r=0.27, p=0.000).Conclusion: Nursing performance is greater when the nurse perceives a higher sense of humor in the nursing organization. It is considered that these findings will help enhance the quality of nursing services by applying a sense of humor to the nursing management to make friendly work environments that improve the nursing performance in the clinical settings.
