디자인에서의 미니멀리즘의 경향과 특성에 관한 연구

The minimalism emerging to overcome the uncertainty of modernism attempted to maximize modernism in a pure and reductive form. The minimalism having the formative characteristics of simplicity, repetition, thingness, reductionism and spatiality means the minimization of illusion, excluding subjectivity and description of artists. it attempted a return to the substance of formative elements and pursued the minimization of production and simplification of form. And it realized the zenith of modernism by realizing the denial of convention, self-reduction, formal purism and self-critical characteristics of fine art to the full. This study has started from a critical mind that raised a question how we will view the minimalism of design in historical context that is newly raised again after the late 1990s. The purpose of this study is that to clarify that minimalism has still played an important role in the trend of modern design, through the reconsideration of minimalism which greatly contributed to modern design. Minimalism in design appears combined with geometrical formative elements of a simple form. It shows the order of design by creating a simple form, easy understanding and clear feeling. Temperate design and form of minimalism provide a good principle for future. In the age of uncertain future, to realize the substantial purpose of design and the true meaning will be an alternative of a realistic approach and problem-solving for economic and effective ways.
