보건의료서비스산업의 산업연관분석: 경로분석을 중심으로

초록
본 고는 보건의료서비스산업이 전체 산업의 틀 속에서 어떠한 위상을 차지하고 있으며 동 산업의 수요와 생산활동이 타 산업부문과 어떠한 유기적인 관계를 가지고 있는가를 파악하기 위하여 산업연관분석을 수행한다. 특히, 보건의료서비스부문이 여타의 다른 재화산업과 서비스산업과 어떤 유기적인 관계를 갖는지 경로분석을 하였다. 이를 위하여 한국은행에서 발간하는 산업연관표를 활용하여 1990～2000년 기간을 대상으로 분석하였다. 경로분석의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 보건의료서비스 활동이 서비스산업부문에 미치는 생산파급효과인 내부승수가 서비스산업 전체 평균에 미치지 못하는 것으로 분석되었는데, 이는 보건의료서비스부문이 상대적으로 여타 서비스부문과 독립되어 있다는 추론이 가능한 결과라 할 수 있다. 둘째, 보건의료서비스 활동의 생산파급이 재화산업을 경유한 다음 서비스산업의 생산을 확대시키는 효과가 상대적으로 크다는 것을 알 수 있는데, 이는 재화산업과의 연계 정도가 다른 여타 서비스산업보다 강하다는 의미로 해석할 수 있다. 셋째, 내부생산유발계수 분석결과에 따르면 일반적으로 서비스부문에 의한 재화부문의 생산유발효과가 더 크다고 할 수 있는데, 이는 재화산업의 내부파급효과가 서비스산업의 내부파급효과보다 크다는 사실이 반영되었기 때문이다. 넷째, 서비스부문에 의한 재화부문의 투입유발효과는 다른 공공서비스(공무, 교육, 연구, 사회복지)보다 월등히 높은 것으로 나타났다. 생산파급효과의 경로분석을 통해 보건의료서비스 산업의 발전은 재화산업과의 동반 발전을 가능하게 함으로써 국민 경제에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 결론을 추론할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper empirically explores the nature of the medical services industry and its various propagation effects on the economy in the input-output model. We analyze Input-output table published by The Bank of Korea during 1990~2000. The main findings of the paper are as follows. First, medical service industry has more than average repercussion effects on the goods industries. Second, compared to other service industries, the medical service industry is of the characteristics of weak both backward and forward linkage effects implying a final demand dependency industry. Third, the internal and intersectoral propagation multipliers imply that the medical service industry is of higher dependency on the goods sector activities contained in the production process. It would be concluded that the development of the medical service industry could lead to accompanying development of goods sectors.
