보험회사 업무효율성 측정방법의 유용성 비교에 관한 연구 - 국내 보험회사를 중심으로 -

초록
본 연구는 2001-2004 사업연도 4년 동안 국내 생명⋅손해보험회사를 대상으로 효율성 측정을 위한 여러 방법들 중에서 전통적으로 기존의 실무 차원에서 사용 되어져온 비율분석과 평균적 생산함수에 근거한 회귀분석 및 최근 들어 서비스 효율성 측정에 많이 사용되고 있는 DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) 기법의 특징과 차이점 및 어느 기법이 유용한 것인지, 상호 보완의 여지가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 분석결과, 첫째, 효율성 측정결과 유사한 형태를 보이고 있으나, 비율분석과 회귀분석의 한계로 DEA가 효율성 측정에 가장 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사업비를 인건비, 일반관리비, 영업운영비로 나누어 투입변수로 보고, 영업이익을 산출변수로 하여 추정한 DEA 효율성 측정결과 기술 효율성은 연도별로 0.580에서 0.754로 상승한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 비효율성의 원인을 알아보기 위해 Tobin(1958)이 개발한 토빗모형(tobit model)을 이용하여 회귀분석을 시행해 본 결과, 기술 효율성을 증대시키기 위해서는 인건비와 영업운영비를 감축하고, 영업이익을 증대시켜야 하는 것으로 나타나 이들 투입요소에 대한 적극적인 관리가 요망된다고 하겠다.
Abstract
Domestic life and non-life insurance industry strategies focus on profitability and efficiency. Efficiency analysis has been become a major target of insurance companies ever since.The purpose of this paper is to comparative the efficiency of the life and non-life insurance companies in korea using ratio Analysis, Regression analysis, DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis)analysis. To measure the efficiency, using the time series data for 4 year from 2001 to 2004 except for the 19 companies in korea. Empirical results using operating expenses and operating profit as variable are summarized as follow :First, Showed DEA analysis is most effective.Second, the results using DEA analysis is technical efficiency showed yearly mean from 0.580 to 0.754. Third, the relation between DEA efficiency and input variables are explored using a tobit regression model. The results of the Tobit regression analysis showed that reduce personnel expenses and operating expenses and augment operating income to augment technology efficiency.
