호텔산업의 X-비효율성에 관한 연구

There are three purposes in this paper as follows. The first is to estimate the X-inefficiency of hotel industry. The second is to analyze the factors that influence the efficiency of hotel industry. The third is to search the management strategies that have the implications for the improvement of efficiency.According to the estimated X-inefficiency, the X-inefficiencies of annual sold rooms and employees form 1.92% and 0.21% of total X-inefficiency respectively. So the relative importances of these two factors are very small. The X-inefficiency of available rooms forms 97.87% of total X-inefficiency. So almost all of X-inefficiency comes from this factor. According to the regression results between X-inefficiency and styles of hotel, super deluxe hotel is managed more inefficiently than deluxehotel. According to the regression results between X-inefficiency and financial variables, the higher total asset turnover ratio is, the more inefficiently the cost of hotel is managed. The larger investment per room is, the more inefficiently the cost ofhotel is managed. This research takes only 33 hotels as a sample from 488 hotels. Especially, under the existing situation that the supply of middle and low price hotel is necessary, it is the limitation of this paper that this paper excludes the first grade, second grade, and third grade hotels. It is a future task to analyze about the X-inefficiency of middle and low price hotels.
