서비스산업의 성장과 경기안정화

초록
최근 경제의 서비스화는 세계적으로 전개되고 있으며, 우리나라도 양적인 측면에서 큰 진전이 있을 뿐만 아니라 서비스산업 내의 구조변화와 생산과정의 서비스화 및 파급효과 개선 등 질적인 측면에서도 긍정적인 변화가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 서비스산업의 성장이 경기변동성을 축소하여 경기안정화에 기여하는지 여부를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서비스업의 성장률 변동성이 제조업에 비해 상대적으로 작게 나타나는데, 이는 전체 경제성장률 변동을 작게 하는데 기여한다. 둘째, 소비함수의 추정 결과는 전체소비의 소득탄력성은 0.681, 서비스소비는 0.384로 전체소비에 비해 서비스소비가 크게 낮다. 셋째, 전체 GDP 성장률과 서비스산업 성장률의 표준편차 및 변이계수의 추정에서도 서비스산업 성장률이 더 작게 나타났다. 넷째, 산업별 고용변동성이 축소되고, 산업연관표 분석에서 고용창출효과가 커지고 있다 등이다. 이 결과들의 함의는 모두 서비스산업의 성장이 경기안정화에 기여함을 나타내준다.
Abstract
Current economy worldwide focuses on services and Korea also shows positive changes in quality such as changes of service industry structure, production process focusing on service and expansion of its derivative effects as well as a big progress in quantity. This study analysed how growth of service industry contributes to stabilization of economic condition through a shock-absorbing agent and the results were presented as follows: First, fluctuation of growth rate in service sector was found to be relatively smaller than that of manufacturing sector, which contributes to insignificant fluctuation of economic growth rate. Second, as a result of estimation of consumption function, income elasticity of entire consumption was 0.681 and income elasticity of service consumption was 0.384, which were lower compared to the entire consumption. Third, in estimation of standard deviation and change coefficients between entire GDP growth rate and service industry growth rate, the latter showed lower growth rate. Fourth, it was found that job fluctuation in different industries was reduced and more job opportunities are being created. The results indicate that growth of service industry contributes to stabilization f economic condition.
