로컬푸드 관점에서 본 농산가공산업의 활성화방안

The foundation of agriculture is increasingly under the control of transnational agri-food conglomerates (TNACs), such as Cargill, ConAgra, ADM, and Monsanto. TNACs are destroying the environmentally balanced farming, reducing the diversity of genetic resources, expanding the supply of standardized production, and imposing uniformity on agricultural production. As a result, today's agri-food system has broken the balance of the farming system, and has led to undermining the unity of the components of the farm due to ecological problems and large-scale agriculture systems. These are undermining the sustainability of the agriculture and safety of the food in the long term. In this respect, local food movement has become one of the alternatives. Local food movement can provide a platform for rural revitalization, which is based on productive small-scale farms supplying consumers with healthy, locally grown food. Furthermore, locally processed agricultural products can give additional food dollars to farmers. This paper examined the current problems of locally processed agricultural products, and suggested the policy to revitalize local food system through the processing of locally grown agricultural products.
