자료포락분석을 이용한 우리나라 호텔의 효율성 및 생산성 분석

이 논문은 우리나라 특1급, 특2급, 관광호텔을 대상으로 2002년도와 2005년도 자료를 가지고 자료포락분석(DEA) 방법을 이용하여 효율성과 생산성을 측정하고 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 논문은 다음과 같은 점에서 기존 논문과 차별성을 갖는다. 첫째, 이 논문은 특1급만을 대상으로 한 연구들과 비교해 볼 때 특1급만이 아니라 특2급 호텔 및 관광1급 호텔까지 연구대상에 포함시킴으로써 상대적으로 우리나라 호텔산업을 잘 대변하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 둘째, 이 논문은 세계화가 우리나라 호텔의 효율성과 생산성에 미치는 영향에 대해서 다루고 있다. 이 논문의 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 효율성 분석에서 호텔의 급이 높을수록 기술효율성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기대했던 것과 달리 호텔의 급이 높을수록 오히려 생산성은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 단순회귀분석 결과 우리나라 호텔의 세계화 정도가 높을수록 생산성도 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 우리나라 호텔들이 생산성을 높이기 위해서는 향상된 마케팅의 도입으로 인한 외국인 투숙객의 비중을 높이는 등 세계화를 위한 노력이 절실한 과제인 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to measure and analyse the efficiency and productivity using Data Envelopment Analysis of three groups of Korean hotels for the years 2002 and 2005. Input-oriented CCR and BCC models were employed for the efficiency measure in 2005, and the Malmquist Index method was used for the productivity change from 2002 to 2005.This study is different from existing literature in that it includes three different groups of hotels: the special-first, special-second, and tourist-first class hotels, while most of the literature has focused only on the special-class hotels. Furthermore, this study sheds light on the effects of globalization on efficiency and productivity as well. The results indicate the following: (1) In efficiency analysis, the higher class hotels seem to have higher technical efficiency, but not pure technical efficiency. (2) Contrary to what we expected, the higher class hotels result in the lower productivity. (3) The simple regression analysis lets us find a statistical relation of globalized Korean hotels with higher efficiency measured. It is expected that this study can provide useful information for future hotel management needs.
