Soaring up divorce rates in Korea make us be interested in divorced couples. However, we do have far less research on the children of the divorced family. Although there are results of positive effect of the divorce on the couples, there are both positive and negative effects on the children of the divorced family. I have studied Children’s stress and adjustment problems from the life history perspective. They seemed to enter the adulthood early because they are expected to fulfil family chores. Parents allowed them too much autonomy or sometimes expected a lot at their development level. Both cases are not very good at conflict resolution. The reason for their poor conflict management seems to be related to the lack of good model of conflict management. Early entering to the adulthood deprived them the pure experience of playing. This made them to have a narrow network of friends and later involvement of playing. The results of this study suggest that we need to support and pay attention to the children of the divorced for a long term. Even though they are seemed adjusted after parents’ divorce, they still have stress and adjustment problems for a long time.
