The Implications of Considering Tipping Policy for Hospitality Management

The article examines considering factors when executives and managers consider tipping policy. Tipping is a major concern to waiters and waitress. For that reason, tipping should also be a concern of restaurant managers. In order to identify the differences between tips and service charge, the author discusses the implication of attributes of tipping: Wages to gratuities, predictability, service quality, tip-enhancing action, cost, talented servers, the complexities, service consistency, income change, internal conflicts, external conflicts, preferences and motivation, server performance measurement , other environments. Thus, this paper should provide service industry executives and managers with information and guidance regarding basing tipping policies and should provide researchers for many ideas.
