By using a path analysis method, this study examined how a micro-enterprise support program impacts participants' psychological and financial improvements as interim outcomes and also their increased income and economic independence from public assistance as final outcomes. The path analysis demonstrated that perceived assistance from the support program directly impacted their self-esteem and net-income as psychological and financial outcomes, and that through a mediation of these interim outcomes, the support contributed to increased income and independence from public assistance as final results. These findings confirmed that the micro-enterprise support program is effective. By analyzing the impacts of capital lending, educational training, and post-startup support services of the support program, it was found that educational training and post-startup support were more effective on psychological and financial improvements than capital lending, and that integrated services had a stronger impact than individual services. These findings not only confirmed the significance of educational training and post-startup support along with capital lending, but highlighted the necessity of providing integrated services. Furthermore, it was found that the participants' characteristics also had direct impacts on increased incomes and independence from public assistance as well as on psychological and financial improvements. These results suggested that the effectiveness of the support program can be improved by providing tailored programs reflecting the participants' individual characteristics.
