A Study on Direction of Signboard Design in Commercial Area

Outdoor advertising needs to satisfy requirements simultaneously dubbed the achievement of advertising goal and the formation of urban beautification. Streetscape is faced the most by citizens and is caused visual confusion by many elements, thereby being imminent in its maintenance and improvement. Disorder in a city is being aggravated by an impediment in urban beautification, and by image confusion, size, and color in street space. This study researched into size and cognitive property in signboard compared to building area, and design aspects (use in color, and feature in letter), and into image of signboard in urban space. A problem about signboard in commercial region can be known to be the excessive size in signboard as against the building area. Regarding the use in color, the colors, which are used the most in signboard, are mainly formed red, yellow, and blue. And, the use of clear and strong colors is much. As a result of surveying the associated image with signboard, the color was reminded the most. And, it was indicated to be in order of application in using letter, size and quantity in signboard. Signboard destroys order in a city, and spoils beautification, but has merit called the information element in the middle of city. Modern society requires development in design such as the signboard suitable for urban landscape and the signboard harmonious with features by building. The rightly signboard culture is expected to be settled that contributes to enhancing urban beautification along with direction of improving design in signboard, which harmonizes with urban elements around.
