디자인 교육에서 루틴 다이어리의 실제적 적용과 가능성

초록
본 연구는 디자인 교육에서 디자인 컨텐츠와 독특한 스타일을 자신들의 내부 안에서 찾을 수 있는 장치를 마련하고자 시작되었다. 존 듀이는 예술의 원천을 일상적인 것에서 시작하여 예술의 동시대성과 연속성을 찾아야 한다고 했다. 이러한 동시대성이 결여될 경우 피상적인 베끼기 디자인이 나오게 되며, 이는 대학 디자인 교육에서부터 그 해결의 실마리를 찾아야 한다고 생각한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 ‘루틴다이어리’라는 교육용 툴을 제시했다. 이를 통하여 자신의 생활패턴 안에서 스스로 디자인의 원칙을 발견할 수 있는 계기를 만들고자 루틴다이어리를 분석 하여 그 교육적 가능성을 알아보고자 했다. 총 16주 동안의 수업을 진행하면서 8주 이상 루틴다이어리를 지속적으로 쓰도록 하면서 그 중 15개의 루틴다이어리를 집중적으로 분석했다. 분석의 툴은 습관의 반영 툴, 취향의 반영 툴, 경험의 반영 툴, 자기반성의 반영 툴로서 네 가지로 나누어 분석했으며, 각각의 분석 툴에 맞는 사례분석을 시도해봄으로 루틴다이어리가 디자인 교육용 툴로서 얼마나 효과가 있는지에 대한 가능성을 엿볼 수 있었다. 종합적인 평가를 통해 루틴다이어리를 교육용자료로 씀으로 해서 얻게 되는 장점들은 1. 학생들 스스로가 교육용 자료를 생산해 내는 주체가 되고 그것을 기반으로 자신의 디자인에 대한 맥락화를 시도할 수 있었다. 2. 루틴다이어리는 그 질에 대한 가치평가의 판단유보가 가능하여 학생들의 아이디어의 유창성과 창의성을 높일 수 있다. 3. 일상적인 삶의 패턴 안에서 새로운 의미를 발견함으로써, 디자인하는데 자기주도성을 찾고 자긍심을 가지며, 디자인하는 자체에 몰입할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 교육적 가능성이 있음을 실제적인 교육과정안에서 확인하고 루틴다이어리를 새로운 디자인 교수법의 하나로 제안하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study was initiated with the intention to find optical devices for design contents and style in each individual's inner cultural pattern in design education. As John Dewy noted, Art should be recover continuity and contemporary sense from our daily life. Lack of continuity of contemporary design has been caused to spreading design-copy problem. It must be solved from the collage education system. Therefore, I suggest 'routine diary' as design education frame, and evaluate the effect of routine diary empirically in classroom setting. In order to do that, I analysis 15 routine diary intensively within these four frames: by 1) habit, by 2) taste, by 3) experience, and by 4) self-correcting. Through these processes we can recognize the effect of routine diary as design education tool. 1. Students themselves play their role as contents producers of their work. On bases on that, they tried conceptualizing their data into design contents. 2. Routine diary can delay subjective judgement of the tutor, which can cause the decrease students' creativity. 3. Also they find unique meaning of their design concept in their own life style. Consequently, they showed proactive and immersible manner in performed their design work and writing routine diary. Like these traits, 'routine diary' has positive effect in design education, and can be applied in various classroom settings.
