개인정보보호 기능의 강화가 필요한 디지털ID관리

In an environment where works are generally handled on the basis of network infra like the Internet, digital ID will become increasingly important and its use will also be universalized. These digital IDs are usually stored and managed in various Internet sites such as portal sites, mail servers and online shopping malls. As a result, users become annoyed because the same person has to punch in the same ID information repeatedly for registration or certification, and personal information can be easily exposed or used illegally by unauthorized users since a person's information is widely spread in many places. Recently, researches have been conducted by major research institutes to solve such a problem fundamentally, and a new Internet-scale ID management service is being developed which considers security and personal privacy from the designing stage. This study reviews the concept of digital ID, the examples of damage due to the leakage or misuse of digital IDs, and the technological and policy measures being taken at home and abroad to guarantee the function to protect personal information and the right of the owners of the personal information to decide by themselves, and at the same time presents the technological and policy requirements that must be decided first for the practical usage of the system of digital ID management in a ubiquitous environment where various protocols and services are integrated.
