초록
This study analyzes the dance text centered mainly on the functions of the aesthetic symbols that manifest the images of a symbol according to the “interpretation as the artistic symbol.” As the universe is filled with symbols, the aspects and the semantic reproduction in the form of the artistic symbol never fails to bring about fresh impact, which is being recreated as the symbol for creation in the artistic world. As always concerned, however, the truth brought about by the semiology depends solely on the fact whether the objective verification has been obtained by the experimental methods. In that note, this study finds meaning in analyzing the actual texts so as to apply the theoretical methodology of a researcher. Of course, it is not an exaggeration that such methodological interpretation that has focused on the Korean dance, particularly, the symbols and images of dance moves of Songpa Sandae play stemmed from curiosity if the symbolic meaning of Korean dance can expose its nature according to the specific dance moves. According to the semiological perspective, a very useful result can be inferred as follows: First, the concept of images, indices, and symbols present structural system of the theory not only in the triangle-relation between symbols that link moves and images but also in the procedure of delivering flexibility and meaning of thoughts through a metaphor and contiguity. Second, the symbol as the presentational concept of indices and symbols can be reversely inferred to the point how the symbolic codes, the specialty of an art, were re-symbolized for disclosure. Such results can discern multitudes of aesthetic codes that continue by the physical concepts of moves and other contacting behaviors with other objects in the outside. Third, it adopts the methodology that contemplates through semiotic understanding. It was made possible by extracting the aesthetic elements from Korean dances, naming them as the aesthetic codes and attempting code interpretations. In other words, it shows the inductive conclusion why the dance moves of Songpa Sandae play fully reflects satire and humor of Korea’s traditional mask dances, and the psychological aspects found in the groups or communities.
