와이브로폰 UI 디자인의 사용자 평가에 관한 연구

This research conducted user testing on the usability and affect of a smart phone designed by KT. The aim of this empirical study was to evaluate and compare two UI design demonstrations of initial screen of Wibro phone. Three dimensions of user evaluation on two contrasting UIs designed with PDA and desktop metaphors were analyzed: perceived usefulness, information visualization of layout, and affective evaluation on impression. The comparative analysis was to find the differences between the metaphors applied to initial screen of the Wirbo phone. A total of 45 testers participated in the testing. Results showed that desktop metaphor design was perceived higher than PDA metaphor design in most of evaluation items in three dimensions of the usability testing. Especially, desktop metaphor design received very favorable evaluation on the timeliness, understandability of icons, and simplicity of impression, regardless of its limit of information display capacity due to using bigger icons. It implies that users connect their use experiences of PC desktop interfaces, rather than those of mobile PDA, with the smart phone which has broadband Internet function.
