Kinematic analysis to Baton Touch Type at Men 400m Relay

This study was to investigate the kinematical factors between the baton touch type at men 400m relay. The subjects were 3 highly trained university male sprinters. In order to analyze the kinematic factors, their performance was collected using 4 Sony video cameras. Three-dimensional Cartesian coordinates for each joint markers were determined at the time of recording using DLT technique with Kwon3D version 3.1 software program. Coordinate data were low-pass filtered using a fourth-order Butter-worth with cutoff frequency of 6Hz. The kinematic variables such as displacement, velocity, angle were calculated using by Kwon3D version 3.1 software program. The following conclusions were drawn; The type1 that the hand lowly stretched to backward showed the fast touch time to sign of the before runner at the baton zone phase. After touch than before the baton touch, the type1 showed bigger the stride increase and lower COG posture than type2 and type3. After the touch than before the baton touch, the type1 showed faster the horizontal velocity increase and smaller deceleration velocity change in COG than type2 and type3. After the touch than before the baton touch, the type1 showed bigger the front incline posture in trunk angle than type2 and type3. In conclusions, the type1 motion that the hand lowly stretched to backward appeared to do the baton touch in the effective and safe method without deceleration of the horizontal velocity for running at the baton zone phase.
