사운드스케이프 개념을 도입한 공공공간 디자인에 관한 연구

초록
자연이 도시환경으로부터 멀어지고 사회와의 접촉을 기호나 형태에 의한 커뮤니케이션에만 의존하고 있는 현대사회는 도시나 자연을 대상으로 한 계획에 있어서도 시각적 환경 개선에만 초점을 맞추어 진행하고 있다. 하지만 인간과 환경의 상호작용(interaction)이 중요한 가치로 인식되어지면서 이러한 가치가 공공공간을 디자인함에 있어서도 고려되어야 할 사항으로 발전되었다. 사운드스케이프 디자인이란 소리를 환경 전체의 풍경으로 해석 하고자하는 개념이며 인공적인 소리를 만드는 것, 고유한 환경의 소리를 보전하는 것, 불필요한 소리를 제거하는 활동을 포함한다. 공공공간에서 사운드스케이프의 의미와 기능을 파악하여 적용방향을 추출한 결과, 공간에 적합한 소리환경을 제공하여 소리를 마스킹 하는 ‘Sound Wall’과 자연이 가지고 있는 본래의 소리를 들을 수 있게 하여 도시환경에서 소리의 균형을 유지하는 ‘Sound Balance’, 소리와 사람과의 상호작용을 통해 즐거움과 긍정적인 체험을 유도하는 ‘Sound Toy’, 소리의 흐름을 통해 동선을 유도하는 ‘Sound Way’가 디자인 요소로 나타나야함을 알 수 있었다. 이렇게 추출된 4가지 특징을 공간 분석의 틀로 삼고 주요 공공공간 사례의 분석을 통하여 공공공간 디자인의 새로운 가능성을 제안하고자 한다.
Abstract
In the modern society where nature is far away from urban environment and relies on communication using symbol or form in order to contact society, the plan for city or nature is just focused on visual environment improvement. As the interaction between human and environment are recognized as an important value, the value is being recognized as a matter to consider for public space design. Soundscape design is the concept to interpret sound as landscape of entire environment sound and it includes the activities to make artificial sound, preserve unique environment and remove unnecessary sound. From the result of grasping meaning and function of sound scape in public scape and application direction, it was found that ‘Sound Wall’, which provides space with proper sound environment and masks sound, ‘Sound Balance’, which maintains sound balance in urban environment by allowing people to hear original sound of nature, ‘Sound Toy’, which induces amusement and positive experience through the interaction between human and sound, ‘Sound Way’, which induces moving line through sound flow, shall be considered as design factors. The purpose of this study is to suggest new possibility of public space design by using 4 characteristics above as frame for space analysis and analyzing main public space cases.
