내국인 카지노갬블 수요분석 -갬블 간 대체관계를 중심으로-

본 연구의 목적은 갬블 간 대체관계를 고려한 내국인 카지노수요모형을 개발하고, 모형분석을 통해 카지노수요 에 영향을 미치는 결정요인을 분석하는 것이었다. 카지노수요량인 방문횟수와 방문일수에 영향을 미치는 설명변수 로서 스포츠갬블 및 외국카지노수요, 그리고 불법 사행성갬블 등을 포함하는 타 갬블유형을 비롯하여 소비자의 지 역구분, 숙박형태, 동기요인, 그리고 인구통계적 특성 등이 수요모형에 포함되었다. 수요모형으로는 수요량에 대한 조사방법과 가산적 성격을 반영하여 절단된 음이항모형을 적용하였으며, 카지노수요의 주요 결정요인에 대해서는 한계효과와 탄성치를 통해 그 영향력을 실증적으로 파악하였다. 편상관분석 및 수요모형 추정결과에 의하면, 내국 인 카지노수요는 스포츠게임, 외국카지노, 성인오락 등의 갬블수요와 유의한 대체관계를 형성하며, 특히 외국카지 노 및 성인오락의 대체 탄력성이 상대적으로 높았다. 탄성치분석에 의하면, 예컨대, 불법 성인오락은 2006년도에 약 10.9만명(일)에 해당하는 카지노방문수요량의 감소를 초래하였으며, 이를 매출액으로 환산하면, 약 487억원에 해 당한다. 카지노수요에 미치는 인구통계적 특성의 영향력은 교육수준과 연령 등에서 특히 높았다. 카지노방문자의 지역구분 역시 카지노방문수요와 일정한 관계를 형성하고 있었다. 특이할 만한 것은 카지노방문자 중 강원도 거주 자는 방문횟수에 있어, 서울‧수도권 거주자는 방문일수에 있어 타 지역 거주자에 비해 유의하게 높게 나타났다는 점이다. 숙박형태 역시 카지노방문수요와 밀접한 연관이 있다. 카지노방문자 중 강원랜드호텔 및 모텔‧여관 이용자 는 방문횟수와 일수 모두, 그리고 하이원호텔‧콘도 이용자는 방문일수에 있어 비교집단에 비해 높았다. 방문동기 역시 카지노수요의 중요 결정요인이며, 동기요인 중 오직금전추구형과 일상탈출‧금전추구 집단의 카지노방문수요 가 특히 높았다.
Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop a domestic casino demand model in consideration of substitutive relations in gambles, and to analyze the determinants of casino demand. Applied with the truncated negative binomial model, the key determinants of casino demand have been scrutinized by marginal effect and elasticity. Domestic casino demand formed a significant substitutive relation with sports games, foreign casinos, and adult indoor gamble. In particular, the substitutive elasticity of domestic casinos in respect to foreign casinos and adult indoor gamble turned out to be relatively high. According to an analysis of elasticity, illegal adult indoor gamble caused a decrease of 109 thousand people in casino visit demand, amounting to 48.7 billion won. The impact of demographic characteristics on casino demand appeared to be significantly high in age and education. As regional characteristics of casino visitors, a notable fact was that the residents of Kangwon province exceeded those of other regions in number of casino visits, while the residents of Seoul and the metropolitan area outnumbered those of other districts in length of stay substantially. Types of lodging also had significant correlations with casino visit demand. Visiting motives, another key determinant in casino demand, revealed that casino visitors categorized into the types of ‘pursuing money only’ and ‘pursuing money with escaping from everyday life’ had especially high casino visit demand.
