우리나라 입학사정관제 도입의 사회적 논의 과정 분석: 일간지 보도기사를 중심으로

본 연구는 입학사정관제를 둘러싼 사회적 논의의 전개과정을 분석함으로써 입학사정관제의 개념을 보다 정확히 이해하고 우리나라 입시문제를 개선하기 위한 제도로서 정착되기 위하여 어떠한 노력이 필요한지를 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 일간지 분석을 통해 얻은 연구결과, 2004년 도입된 입학사정관제가 2008년, 주요대학을 중심으로 급격히 확산국면으로 접어들었고 2009년도에는 정부가 주축이 되어 입시제도 개선의 주요 해법으로 강조하면서 시행대학 및 선발인원이 급증하는 한편, 제도시행과 관련한 제반 여건이 미흡한 상황에서 학교 현장에 미칠 혼란을 우려하는 목소리가 동시에 높아지게 되었다. 현재 제도의 장점과 단점을 공론화하는 과정을 거쳐 우리나라 교육현실을 고려한 제도로서 새롭게 조정되어야 함이 강조되고 있는 단계이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 입학사정관제가 성공적으로 정착 및 발전하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 입학사정관제는 우리나라의 대학입시 문제를 개선해 나가기 위한 여러 가지 방안 중의 하나이며 선진국의 사례를 그대로 이식하기보다는 우리 교육현실에 맞게 재구조화할 필요가 있음을 강조하였다. 또한 입학사정관제 도입을 계기로 고교-대학 간 교육과정 및 학생평가의 과정이 연계될 수 있으며 고등학교 교육에 대한 신뢰를 바탕으로 공교육정상화를 이루어 낼 수 있을 것이라고 기대한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the Korean AO (admissions officer) system by reviewing issues highlighted in newspapers and further providing some suggestions for its successive establishment in Korea. The AO system was first introduced to Korea in 2004 and spread nationwide in 2008. It is currently viewed as a promising solution for improving our college admissions system. At the same time, however, a sudden increase in social awareness has caused people to be concerned about its negative effects on school education. Accordingly, we should critically consider both the system's strengths and weaknesses from a realistic perspective. In this regard, the study suggested multidisciplinary views of the system. We also emphasized that the AO system could be one option to improve our college entrance system. Furthermore, abruptly implementing a foreign system into the Korean educational situation without considering local factors should be avoided. Through the AO system, the connection between high school and colleges could be stronger in terms of curriculum and student evaluation. This would contribute to strengthening the Korean public education system.
