단군신화 상징의 종교학적 해석 - 성속(聖俗) 변증법의 관점에서 -

This research tries to investigate the Tangun-Myth from the point of sign symbolism and to interprete the meaning of religious aspects in it. In this point, it is the presupposition that Tangun-Myth is not just a fictitious story of the ancient times remoting from our lifetime. Tangun-Myth is a hermeneutic text which is composed of symbolized signs representing the religious meaning in our senses. It could be a way of understanding on our religious consciousness or unconsciousness permeated through our customs and inner world. In Tangun-Myth, there are lots of metaphors and religious symbols such as tiger, bear, the Holy-tree. Especially, the Holy-tree(神樹) means sacred and transcendental space symbolizing the center of the world or the center of the cosmos. But it is not just eliminating the secular space but unifying the sacred with the secular. That means the Holy-tree is the symbol representing the interconnection between the sacred and the secular which is the crossing the heaven and the earth. Like other myths, Tangun-Myth can be interpreted into a story of world creation which is an original form of an ethnic group. But it also has the universal meaning of religious symbols and metaphors such as the Holy-tree and Holy-space which interact between the sacred and the secular. This is an attempt to figure out the peculiarity and universality of the Tangun-Myth which has the religious meaning of our ethnic culture.
