초록
본 연구는 KT&G의 국제회계기준 도입 사례를 분석함으로써 향후 K-IFRS를 도입하려는 기업에게 도움을 주는데 그 목적이 있다. 금융감독위원회는 2011년부터 모든 상장회사로 하여금 K-IFRS를 도입하도록 의무화 하였으며, 2009년부터 원하는 기업에 한해 K-IFRS를 조기 도입할 수 있도록 허용하였다. 2001년부터 룩셈부르크 증권거래소 증권예탁증서를 상장하고 있는 KT&G로서는 IFRS를 조기에 도입하고자 하는 직접적인 유인이 있었을 뿐만 아니라 K- IFRS가 기업경영의 투명성을 제고하여 회사의 대외 신인도를 높일 수 있을 것이라고 기대하였다. 이러한 배경 하에 KT&G는 2006년 이사회에서 2009 회계연도부터 K-IFRS를 작성할 것을 의결하고 체계적인 준비를 통하여 K-IFRS를 도입하였다. KT&G의 사례는 K-IFRS를 성공적으로 도입하려는 다른 기업에게 다음과 같은 시사점을 제공한다. 첫째, 경영진의 적극적인 K-IFRS 도입의지가 중요하다. 둘째, K-IFRS를 도입하기 위해서는 조직을 적절하게 정비하고 전문 인력을 충원할 필요가 있다. 셋째, K-IFRS 도입을 위한 로드맵을 작성하고 K-IFRS 도입팀을 구성할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 국내외 성공적인 회사에 대한 벤치마킹이 필요하다. 다섯째, 국제회계기준 도입 후 재무상태와 경영성과가 어떻게 변화되는지에 대한 사전분석이 필요하다. 여섯째, K-IFRS를 도입하기 위해서는 종속회사를 포함하는 연결재무제표기준의 통합회계시스템을 구축하는 등 많은 예산의 투입이 필요하다.
Abstract
In Korea, all listed companies are required to comply with International Financial Reporting Standards(“K-IFRS”) from 2011. But KT&G has decided to early-adopt K-IFRS in 2009. The Financial Supervisory Commission announced road-map for the adoption of K-IFRS in March 2007. After the announcement, the KT&G has organized a Task Force Team to conduct internal training and analyze the effects of adopting K-IFRS. In October 2008, the KT&G has appointed an External Advisor to analyze the main differences between IFRS and K-IFRS as the first-phase preparation. In the second- phase preparation, the KT&G established responses to for the major differences and decided on the KT&G's accounting policies. As the result the KT&G provided the financial statements based on K-IFRS as of January 1, 2008 and January 1, 2009, and for the year ended December 31, 2008 for the first time. Using the KT&G case, we investigate the process and effect of adoption of K-IFRS. This study will provide the useful information to understand the K-IFRS.
