초록
60년대와 70년대를 대표하는 오지 클라크의 디자인에 대한 연구는 현대 사회에서 자주 응용되는 빈티지 디자인의 형성 과정에 대한 생활양식의 변화와 시대의 사회적 구조 현상에 대한 이해를 제공하여 준다. 오지 클라크의 디자인 경향은 첫째, 당대의 모즈룩과 미니멀리즘 사조에 의한 영향을 받아 단순하고 간결한 미니 스커트와 원피스 디자인이 옵아트적인 감각으로 표현되었다. 둘째, 히피스타일에 의한 자유롭고 개성 있는 특성으로 다양한 모드를 형성하였다. 셋째, 페미닌 모드의 디자인이 주를 이루어 얇고 비춰 보이는 시폰소재나 새틴 실크로 된 소재 위에 화려한 꽃문양이 프린트 된 것이 주를 이루었다. 이러한 오지 클라크의 디자인의 조형적 특징과 의미를 살펴보면 몇 가지로 분류될 수 있다. 그의 디자인에서는 특별히 그의 아내였던 실라 버트웰의 플로럴 텍스타일로 많이 응용 제작 되었으며 기하학 문양과 더불어 화려하고 섬세한 문양으로 독특한 개성이 표현되었다. 또한 숙련되고 실험적인 테일러링에 의한 디자인이 당대의 다른 디자이너들과 달리 프린트된 시폰이나 새틴 실크 등의 소재로 섬세하고 정교하게 디자인되었다. 그의 혁신적인 디자인은 기성복 산업인 래들리 라인의 사업 성장을 가져 왔으며 특히 여성복의 팬츠 슈트 디자인은 60년대와 70년대를 대표하는 작품으로서 인식되었다. 이처럼 오지 클라크의 디자인은 60년대와 70년대 기류를 형성하는데 지대한 영향을 미쳤으며 오늘날 현대 패션산업에서 빈티지 디자인으로서 다양한 의미를 가지고 있다. 이에 현대 패션에서 끊임없이 디자인의 영감을 주고 있는 다른 시대의 레트로 디자인 혹은 빈티지 디자인들에 대한 보다 심도 있고 다양한 디자인 접근법에 의한 패션디자인 기획에 관한 연구가 필요하다고 본다.
Abstract
The study about the Ossie Clark's fashion design can offers the chance to understand that the changes of the lifestyle and the phenomenon of social construction and needs between 1960's and 1970's. Today, it was often adopted into the fashion design's main concepts as a vintage design. Ossie Clark of fashion design had a tendency that three factors. Firstly, it was presented as a Mods look and Minmal mode with op art into the mini skirt and mini dress design. Second, It was made up the Hippie style with various modes without restraint and individual characters. Third, it was a feminine mode design that the main fabrics were printed floral patterns on the flimsy silk and chiffons. The result of this study on the speciality of his design and value were classified into four things. Ossie Clark designed with the floral and geometric textiles designed by Celia Birtwell. He designed by skillful and experimental tailoring with printed chiffons or satin silks. His experimental designs for Radley proved to be success as a ready-to-wear. And his trousers suits designs were represented the 1960's and 1970's style. He affected broadly while that periods in the fashion. Today, his designs had many values as a vintage design. The effectiveness of this study needs the testification, and need study about the retro design and vintage design in others, and development of various device should be joined for more fashion design concepts planning.
