This article discusses the Taiwanization of the Republic of China during the presidency of Lee Tung-hui. Before Lee Tung-hui become the president, the Republic of China was an authoritarian state ruled by Kuomintang, mostly controled by mainlanders. Lee Tung-hui, as a local-born Taiwanese, become the president at 1988. He soon accepted the quest of political dissident and carried out 6 times of consitutional revision. The constitutional revision marked as a great achievement of democratization, but the details of constitutional revision focused on restricting the sovereignty boundary of the Republic of China to Taiwan area and the people in Taiwan. As a result, it made the Republic of China a de facto Taiwanese state.
