The Effect of Relationship Characteristics on Long-Term Orientation in The Franchise System: Mediating Effects of Conflict

The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of relationship characteristics on the long-term orientation in the franchise system and the mediating effects of conflict. To verify the hypotheses, I addressed a questionnaire to owners or manager of food service franchises which is classified by 'successful foundation of franchise' in 2005. We was able to obtain participation of 200 people 187responses, we derived statistics by means of SPSS/PC version 10.0 statistics package. The results are as followed; First, long-term orientations of franchises are influenced by communication and support of franchisor. Second, conflict has negative relationship with long-term orientation. Finally, the conflict mediated between the relationship characteristics and long-term orientation.
