알코올-범죄관계에 대한 이론적 논의

The purpose of this study is to review and examine on relationship of alcohol, crime, and criminal justice in Korea. Generally, it is believed that alcohol use/abuse leads to crime, such as disorder, violent and property crime. A number of theory have been proposed to explain the link between alcohol use and violent or property crime. These theories are pharmacological effect, endocrinological, neurobiologic, environmental, economic, social and cultural determinants. This perception is supported and fostered by theoretical and empirical research from many different disciplines showing a positive association between alcohol use/abuse and crime. In Korea, there is a strong relationship between alcohol use and violent crime by national crime statistic and self-reported survey. 35)In many theoretical and empirical research, there is a strong association between alcohol use and crime. But it may not be useful in guiding public policy and criminal justice policy designed to reduce and prevent crime. Therefore this paper try to review and estimate on the existing policy of drug and alcohol-related crime in Korea, and introduce the alternative perspective on alcohol-related crime, such as drunk-driver and drunk-sexual violence. From our study, it is implied that future research should attempt to develop a more refined model on the relationship between alcohol and crime.
