전통 오브제를 활용한 화훼디자인 작품 분석

The traditional Korean objet d’art is closely related to everyday life in the realms of clothing, food, and shelter; they reflect characteristics of a particular time in history. Since a few years after the new millennium, many studies have been carried out to explore the possibility of applying the traditional Korean objet to floral design. As the society shows increasingly more interest in the value and significance of cultural tradition, floral artists also need to balance contemporary and past historic values, and as they inherit aesthetics from the past. However, in floral design, research on the application of the traditional objet has not been very fruitful. The current research is expected to provide basic research data on the examination of how to apply the traditional objet in flower arrangement. For the research purposes, floral designs from the ‘2009 Korean Traditional Objet Flower Arrangement Competition’ was examined to analyze with 79 work pieces. their styles, colors, shapes, and materials. Then single object and multiple object were analyzed by separating. The analysis of results show that the floral artists preferred earth, wood, and plant materials over stone or metals many of the objets were ordinary household articles. With these objets, the designers used cut flowers, florist greens, fruits, and potted plants. These were in good harmony with objets sof natural materials. The nature of floral designs was ornamental, figurative, or a combination of decoration and planting. The research result is expected to guide further development of floral design with use of traditional objet d’art.
