15권, 99~127쪽

초록

Marriage and the family are the will of God. And as an institution God, the family is the first field of education in which character-building takes place. However, modern families are faced with the continued increase in divorce and remarriage. This increase shows the family is confronted with confusion and crisis. The divorce rate in Korea has reached 40% compared to marriage with no significant difference between Christians and non-Christians. Even in the face of such a trend, the Korean church has taken a very passive stance toward divorce and remarriage, passing decisions about divorce and remarriage to both individuals and legal structure. Looking at the reality of divorce and remarriage, biblical and theological understanding has to be made priority and pastoral care and Christian educational approaches must be made in dealing with the issues of divorce and remarriage. While reviewing the biblical and theological understanding of divorce, it is clear that divorce is a sin that is standing against the will of God. There must be Christian educational teaching and care to use in the crisis of divorce as an opportunity to come into a more mature married life in a viewpoint of a biblical theological position. Understanding the change of the societal situation and the reality of divorce and remarriage, this study is aimed to find a new direction of Christian education and form correct and practical methodology in caring of divorce and remarriage. For this purpose, first, this study sets both a strict view and broad view about the permanence of marriage, as a covenant of God. Next, this study will examine the descriptions of the principles of marriage in the Bible, the biblical view of divorce and remarriage in the Old and New Testament, in Jesus' teachings in the synoptic gospels and the teachings of Paul. And by looking at the situation of the Korean church and the real problems of divorce and remarriage which today's Christians are facing, we will study what the Korean church can do about divorce and remarriage in association with Christian education.
