Copyright Issues to Overcome for the Realization of Education 2.0

Over the past few years, a set of technologies and social phenomena have arisen on the Internet that are collectively referred to as Web 2.0 which has turned it from an access technology into a participation technology. This phenomena has also influenced education. A new landscape for education is emerging as a result of those developments in information and communication technology, which is called Education 2.0. Education 2.0 refers to the use of the technologies and social engagements of Web 2.0. OpenCourseWare(OCW) is a good example which realizes Education 2.0. OCW is which means that universities are serving their courses on the Internet for free. The issue is whether there will not be copyright problem for the purpose of realization of education 2.0. From the viewpoint of copyright issue, OCW may have two kinds of problems. One copyright issue might happen when educational resources are made by using others' copyrighted works. The other issue might happen when users use the finished educational resources on the Internet. This article will consider these two points: First, it will take account into the copyright limitations to make the educational resources more freely. The Secondly, it will consider Creative Commons License which allows users to use the online contents without being afraid of copyright infringement.
