초록
In September 2008, a fresh outbreak of kidney disease occurred, due to baby formula contaminated by melamine. Many babies died and over 290,000 were made sick by the tainted formula. The tragedy reflects the rigorous situation of the food safety in China. In order to enhance the law protection of food safety, China has promulgated “the food safety law”(entered into force since the June 1, 2009. Compared with the former “food health law”, the actual “food safety law” has achieved an obvious improvement, but still has a long way to go to build up a legal network of food safety protection.
