A Study on Knit Design adapting Korean Traditional Patterns

This study's purpose is to draw attention of traditional costume and culture of young generation by developing knit wears using traditional patterns. Survey was conducted targeting women's university students for clear traditional pattern. The most preferred pattern was Taeguk(the Great Ultimate), lotus and chinese letter 壽(su; longevity) pattern and preferred items were T-shirts, muffler and one-piece dress. Adapting the researched patterns this study designed three one-pieces, three mufflers and three T-shirts using pink, light blue, light yellow, light green as a main color and brown and beige for point color. Cotton knit jersey and polyester knit jersey was output as a sample for design. It is expected to help Hanbok's popularization and modernization by making young generation wearing knit wear using traditional patterns to them which is hard for them to wear a Hanbok itself.
