A Study on Social Competency of Hotel F&B Employees by Using Two-step Cluster Analysis

The purpose of this study is to identify the association between social competency,customer orientation, demographics, employment characteristics by using two-step cluster analysis. The data were collected from 8 different super deluxe hotels in Seoul. A total of 240 were collected and analyzed using SPSS ver. 11.5. From the findings, three different clusters were derived from two-step cluster analysis based on nonmetric variables such as gender, age, marital status, education,year of employment, hotel management type, title, and metric variables such as social competency and customer orientation. There were significant associations among those three segmented groups between those clusters and nonmetric variables. Finally, these results will be helpful for researchers as well as hotel managers in order to understand social competency while theoretical and managerial implications were discussed.
