디자인학의 체계성 확립을 위한 접근 방안에 관한 연구

초록
최근 디자인학의 학문성에 대한 논의가 대두됨에 따라 디자인학의 체계성의 필요성에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 디자인학이 학문으로서의 정체성을 갖기 위해서는 현재 이루어지고 있는 디자인학 관련 연구들을 통합적으로 바라볼 수 있는 디자인학만의 체계성이 필요하기 때문이다. 체계성(體系性, System) 이란 단일한 이론의 집척체가 아니라 이질적이고 상반된 지식들을 포함하고, 한편 개별적이거나 나열적이지 않고 일정한 질서에 따라 배열되고 연결되는 속성을 가지고 있는 것으로서, 체계성 안에서 디자인학 연구가 이뤄진다면 그 연구는 낱낱이 흩어지는 별개의 것이 아니라 디자인학이라는 학문으로 응집될 수 있을 것이다. 즉, 체계성을 디자인학에 구축할 수 있는 방향성이 존재한다면 앞으로 체계성을 잡는 데 일정한 기여를 할 수 있을 것이라고 본다. 이는 결론적으로는 향후 정립된 체계성이라는 틀 안에서 디자인학의 연구가 이루어지게 함에 궁극적인 목적이 있다. 본 논문에서는 디자인학에서 가지는 학‘(學)' 의 의의와 체계성의 의의가 무엇인지에 대해 연구하였다. 모든 연구는 정의에서부터 출발하기 때문인데, 각각의 정의 안에서 디자인학의 체계성을 위해 필요한 요소들을 추출하고 방향성을 잡았다. 또, 수학과 경영학의 학문적 체계성을 디자인학과 비교해 보아 디자인학이 가지는 체계성의 특성을 도출하였다. 결론적으로 체계성을 위해 추출한 필수 요소들과 타학문의 특징과는 차별화된 디자인학만의 학문적 체계성의 요소를 귀납적으로 분석하여 체계성 확립을 위한 연구의 방안을 제안하도록 한다.
Abstract
In this study, the followings are examined; first, what is the meaning of the ‘Design Science' and the system that design has. Second, How is the system of design conducted in comparison with establishment of system of business administration. Therefore, the study ultimately is aiming at establishing basic concepts required for the system of design later, based on the said cases to suggest approaches necessary for the system of design. As a result of this study, the following three axises that are the frame of research for establishment of system of design were deducted; an approach through comparison and analysis of design carried out at design related excellent universities of the nation, an approach through comparison and analysis of characteristics on the system of design carried out in the degree of bachelor, master and doctor, and an approach through comparison and analysis of domestic and foreign design.
