근로자 속성에 따른 퇴직연금 최적유형 선택에 관한 연구

본 논문은 시뮬레이션 방법론을 이용하여 근로자의 속성에 따른 퇴직연금 유형의 최적 선택을 분석했다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 우선 벤치마크 근로자를 설정하여 그의 퇴직연금 유형에 대한 선호를 살펴본 후 근로자 속성을 나타내는 여섯 가지 요인들을 하나씩 변화시키면서 연금유형의 선택이 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보았다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 우선 근로자의 속성을 나타내는 변수들 가운데 취업개시 연령, 평균 임금상승률, 임금상승률의 변동성 변화는 근로자의 연금유형 선택에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 다른 조건들이 일정할 경우 취업개시 연령이 늦고, 평균 임금상승률이 높으며, 임금상승률의 변동성이 낮은 근로자 집단에서 확정기여형보다는 확정급여형 연금을 상대적으로 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 근로자의 연금유형 선택은 초기 보유자산 규모, 위험에 대한 태도, 그리고 평균 근속년수의 변화에는 민감하게 반응하지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 평균 근속년수가 긴 장기 근속근로자의 경우 확정급여형 연금에의 선호가 높아지는 경향은 일부 발견할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the optimal choice of retirement pension plans for the employees by using a well-designed simulation model. For this study, we first consider a typical employee as benchmark and search for his optimal pension plan. Then we examine how the employee's preference on the type of pension plans changes as we vary the following six attributes of the employee: Starting age of work, work duration, rate of wage increase, volatility of wage increase, size of property and risk aversion. The main results of the analysis are as follows: Among the six employee's attributes, starting age of work, rate of wage increase, and volatility of wage increase are statistically significant. That is, holding the other things constant, an employee with late staring age of work, high wage increase rate and low volatility of wage increase rate is shown to prefer DB plan over DC plan. On the other hand, size of property, risk aversion and average work duration do not seem to be meaningful in statistical standards. However, we can observe a tendency that an employee with a long work duration is more likely to adopt DB over DC.
