초록
Previous studies provided strong evidence for the belief that dispositional factors like perception about the meaning of work are closely related to job attitudes, including career-development behaviors. This study tried to investigate how the meaning of work influences career-enhancing strategies in a Korean business setting. For examining the effects, calling and career orientations were used for independent variables; creating opportunity and career seeking guidance were used for career-enhancing strategies, the dependent variable in this study. The findings showed that calling and career orientation have statistically significant positive influence on the career-enhancing strategies of creating opportunity and seeking career guidance, respectively. This means that the results supported all four research hypotheses of this study. Theoretically, this study provided the empirical evidence about the relationship between work orientation and career-enhancing strategy. Also, this study provided the practical implications about the individuals’ perception of the meaning of work influencing the development of skills, knowledge, and experience.
