A Historical Review and Trend Analysis of E-Learning System Research : Focusing on Technology Innovation, Adoption, Accounting Education, and Design

This research is to explore a bibliometric approach to quantitatively assessing the research trend on E-Learning systems and utilizes the related literature information in the Ei database from 2001 to 2010. The results show that literature production within the E-Learning system is growing rapidly. The most documented type of publication is the conference article, composing 77.29% of the total literature. English is the primary language (97.94%), and China is the largest contributing country for E-Learning literature publishing (24.04%). Fukuoka Institute of Technology (Japan), Tottori University (Japan), and Tamkang University (Taiwan) rank as the top three author affiliations in this paper.
