A Study on the User Protection in Contents Transactions by means of Electronic Commerce

Recently, contents transactions by means of electronic commerce are increasing rapidly and damages of users in this part are increasing. There are the electronic transaction consumer protection law and the Act on the promotion of content industries which aim to protect users in digital contents transactions. But the electronic transaction consumer protection law has limitations in digital contents transactions executed by on-line because seeking for a consumer protection centering around a contracting method. Also, Act on the Promotion of Content Industries is a sort of acts on promotion of industries. Therefore, if provisions protecting users are added, it could be contrary with the legislation goal of this act. So, the legal protection of users which considers the quality of digital contents transactions must become accomplished with not amendment of current laws but enactment of a special law.
