갬블링 동기·열정·참여의도 간 구조관계 분석: 서울시민을 대상으로

본 연구의 목적은 갬블링 동기와 열정 및 참여의도 간 영향관계를 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 여러 가지 베팅게임(경마, 카지노, 경륜·경정, 복권, 스포츠토토/프로토, 온라인게임) 중 어느 하나를 참여한 경험이 있는 서울시민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 내적 동기는 조화로운 열정과 강박적 열정 모두에게 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난 반면, 외적 동기는 강박적 열정에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 조화로운 열정과 강박적 열정 모두 베팅게임 참여의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 더욱이 내적 동기가 열정에 미치는 효과는 조화로운 열정이 강박적 열정에 비하여 더 강한 것으로 나타났으며, 열정이 베팅게임 참여의도에 미치는 영향은 조화로운 열정이 강박적 열정보다는 강한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과의 시사점은 갬블링산업이 내적 동기를 촉진하는 것이 조화로운 열정과 같은 긍정적 결과를 가져오는 방법이라는 시실을 지적해준다. 또한 본 연구에서는 수정모형을 통해 내적 동기가 강박적 열정에도 영향을 미친다는 사실을 발견하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationships among gambling motivation, passion, and behavioral intention. To this end an onsite survey was conducted to Seoul citizen who had participated in one of the following gambling games: horse racing, casino, lotto, cycling/motor boat, toto/proto, and online game. The results of this study indicate that intrinsic motivation had an effect on both harmonious and obsessive passion, whereas extrinsic motivation influenced only obsessive passion. Also, both harmonious and obsessive passion had an effect on behavioral intention. Furthermore, the effect of intrinsic motivation on passion was stronger for harmonious passion than obsessive passion, and the impact of passion on behavioral intention was stronger for harmonious passion than obsessive passion. The findings suggest that gambling industry should promote intrinsic motivation to have its positive impact on harmonious passion and behavioral intention. This study also identify that intrinsic motivation influenced obsessive passion using the modified structural equation modelling approach.
