MBTI 성격유형과 디자인 학습 성취도 실증연구

비슷한 수준의 지식, 스킬, 능력, 관심을 가지고 있는 집단에서도 성과(performance)의 차이는 나타날 수 있다. 동일한 대학의 학과에 속해 있는 비슷한 수준의 학생들도 같은 교육 환경에 노출되어 있지만 학습 성취도로서의 성과와 성적은 차이를 보인다. 이러한 차이는 어떠한 양상에서 비롯되었는가라는 질문에서 본 연구는 시작되었다. 동일한 대학과 전공에 속해 있으면서 비슷한 유형을 공유하는 특정집단을 표본으로 하여, 그들의 성격유형을 분류하고 성과로서 학습 성취도(GPA)를 분석하고, 그들의 관계를 밝히는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)는 C. G Jung에 의해 처음 주장된 성격유형 이론을 기반으로 Isabel B. Myers와 Katharine C. Briggs에 의해 고안된 성격유형 검사로서, 전 세계적으로 가장 널리 활용되는 성격유형검사이며 타당성과 신뢰성이 입증된 방법이다. 본 연구는 C대학 시각디자인과 재학 중인 학생들을 표본으로 MBTI 테스트를 실시하고 결과로서의 프로파일을 분석하여, 이들의 성격 유형과 학습 성취도와의 관계를 분석하였다. 4쌍의 양극지표별 선호성, 16개의 성격유형, 그리고 남녀의 구분을 변수로 하여 학점(GPA)과의 상관관계가 분석 되었다.
Abstract
This study starts with the question, “Does personality type differentiates the performance of undergraduate students, and if it does, is there any correlation between the types and academic achievements?”In Korea, despite the colleges use the specific admission program to diversify their entrance system, the most important factor when seeking to enter a college for a high school student is good grades. Moreover, it is not likely that students can earn a good GPA simply because that student received good grades in high school. The MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) was developed by Isabel B. Myers and Katharine C. Briggs and based on the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung. The MBTI assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure the psychological preferences with which people perceive the world and make decisions. The MBTI sorts some of these psychological differences into four opposite pairs, or dichotomies, with a resulting 16 possible personality types. None of these types are better or worse; however, Isabel Myers considered the direction of the preference to be more important than the degree of the preference.
