광화문 광장 디자인 -마유미, 세르지오, 마려화, 손현아의 사례를 중심으로-

초록
600년 역사를 지닌 서울의 중심지인 광화문 광장은 한국을 대표하는 중요한 광장이며 북한산과 관악산을 잇는 국가 상징축이다. 그럼에도 서울시 주관으로 457억원의 예산이 투입되어 2009년에 재탄생한 광화문 광장은 초기 디자인의 컨셉인 역사·문화 체험공간으로도 사람 중심의 광장으로도 제구실을 하지 못하고 외국인 관광객들에게도 외면 받는 실태이다. 이 시점에서 광화문 광장이 역사적 가치를 되찾기 위해서 현 광화문 광장이 디자인적으로 어떻게 구성되어 있으며 어떤 문제점이 있는지를 알아보는 연구는 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 칸트의 에르곤과 파레르곤의 방법론을 학문적 도구로 삼아 광화문 광장을 내·외국인 사례연구를 통해 분석하였다. 광화문 광장을 처음 방문하는 일본인 1명, 중국인 1명, 과테말라인 1명과 내국인 1명을 대상으로 인터뷰, 광화문 광장을 다양한 루트에서 에르곤의 대상은 무엇이며 어디에 재현과 본질을 두느냐에 따라 에르곤과 파레르곤이 반전되는지에 대해 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 광화문 광장 디자인의 구체적인 문제점들에 대한 개선안을 살펴보고자 하고, 이 연구를 통해 새로운 디자인 공간으로의 광화문 광장의 문화적·경제적 가치를 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
ituated in the heart of Seoul City, GwangHwaMun Square is a well-known location of Korea and a national iconic axis that connects Mt. Bukhan to Mt. Gwanak. Organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, GwangHwaMun Square was refurbished in 2009 at a cost of 45.7 billion won in order to create a historically and culturally experiential space. Nevertheless, it does not function as intended in the initial design concept, and is generally ignored by foreign tourists who visit Seoul. To reclaim the historical value of GwangHwaMun Square, it is necessary to study how the square was designed and what types of problems it faces at this point. For this research, the methodology of Kant’s Ergon and Parergon was used to analyze the square through case studies of one domestic resident and three non-Koreas (Japanese, Chinese and Guatemalan individuals). Enacted in various ways, the interviews were based on two main questions as follows. 1. What can be the subject of Ergon?2. At what moment does Ergon become Parergon, and vice versa? This study proposes an improvement scheme for problems that GwangHwaMun Square encounters to enhance the square’s cultural and economic value.
