M2M(Machine-to-Machine) 통신은 사물장치간의 통신으로 기존의 사람 중심 H2H(Human-to-Human) 통신과는여러 특징에서 차이를 보인다. 이러한 특성의 차이에서부터 기술적으로 필요한 기술이 달라질 수 있고 M2M 통신을 이용하는 활용 분야에 따라서도 필요한 특성은 조금씩 달라질 수 있다. M2M 통신은 다가오는 미래의 새로운 통신 네트워크의패러다임으로 기존의 사람 중심의 통신을 넘어 유비쿼터스(Ubiquitous) 사업은 물론 여러 산업 전반에서 여러 복합적 융합서비스를 제시하고 있다. 또한 현재 대표적으로 ETSI(European Telecommunication Standard Institute)와3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project)를 포함한 세계 각국의 표준화 그룹에서는 성공적인 M2M 통신의 표준화를위한 연구개발이 계속되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전반적인 M2M 통신기술의 개념과 함께 M2M 통신이 이용될 수 있는 대표적 활용 분야와 M2M 통신을 위하여 반드시 필요한 기술적 요구사항 등을 소개하고자 한다. 또한 여러 활용 분야에서M2M 통신을 이용하기 위한 여러 통신 프로토콜과 함께 세계 M2M 표준화 동향에 대하여 소개하고자 한다. 마지막으로저전력 M2M 통신 프로토콜의 설계를 위하여 고려되어야 할 기술의 소개로 본 논문을 마치고자 한다.
Abstract
The M2M communication is a communication between devices and has characteristic differences with H2H communication. From these differences and applications for M2M communication, required techniques of M2M communication can be changed. M2M communication is a new paradigm for future communication and network, and offers various convergence services in the ubiquitous business and overall industry. Now various global standardization groups including the ETSI and the 3GPP conduct standardization of the M2M communication for successful future M2M communication. In this paper, we introduce concepts, applications,and various technical issues for the M2M communication. Also we introduce communication techniques for the M2M communication and progress of global M2M standardization. Finally we introduce considerable techniques to design low power M2M communication protocol.
