The Effect of Characteristics of Retired Employees and Transformative Learning Level in Outplacement Service on Employability

The purpose of this study is providing empirical data related on retired employees' transformative learning and research clues for design of effective outplacement program by linking transformative learning and employability. To explain research questions, we measured the level of transformative learning in outplacement service and analyzed characteristics of retired employees and level of transformative learning affect employability. For this study, we established a questionnaire to measure level of transformative learning and used a questionnaire designed by Johnson (2001) to measure the level of employability. 200 piceces of the questionnaire were distributed to outplcement service centers located in seoul. The results are as follows: First, age, gender, expertise, economic power, career period among retired employees' characteristics affect level of transformative learning and employability in outplacement service. Second, in order of sociolinguistic, psychological, epistemic habits of mind of transformative learning influence on the degree of employability significantly. Based on these results, we draw some implications. First, retired employees' characteristics impact on outplacement service, those of characteristics should be reflected in utplacement program. Second, we found that level of retired employees' transformative learning affects employability. It means outplacement programs should be designed towards enhancing the level of transformative learning. We expect that this study should be used as preliminary research material for development and improvement of outplacment program.
