재중동포의 국내 정착과 취업네트워크

In the initial stages of the migration period, Ethnic Korean-Chinese began to adaptation in Korea society by selling oriental medicine at subway in Seoul or working at factories alongside migrant workers from southeast Asia. However, over twenty years of migration,Ethnic Korean-Chinese have found employment in all walks of life, and the Korean Government's policy regarding Ethnic Korean-Chinese has provided an important basis for the broadening of possible job fields. Now, Ethnic Korean-Chinese immigrants in Korean society work in various fields including manufacturing, private business and as subcontracted workers in the construction industry. At the same time, an enclave located in Garibong-dong has become an important base to get information and build social networks. This paper aims to analyze that which jobs they choose, and what influences these job choices in adaptation process in Korea society, using survey of Ethnic Korean-Chinese. The results of the research demonstrate that Ethnic Korean-Chinese maintain a social distance from Korean society while expanding into a variety of job sectors, including restaurant and travel agency work, which are beyond those traditionally occupied by the working class such as the service and construction industries. The time has come that Korean society have to concern about Ethnic Korean-Chinese status and the establishment of relationship with them will be foundation for Korean society and Ethnic Korean-Chinese in progress.
