글로벌 종합 반도체기업의 경영효율성에 관한 연구 : 규모에 따른 초효율성 자료포락분석을 중심으로

The main purpose of this study is super efficiency analysis of worldwide 35 IDM semiconductor suppliers using non parametric method. Through in-depth analysis of the relative super efficiency of IDMs, the validity of large scale 'semiconuctor chicken game' by IDMs is assessed from revenue and profit generation perspectives. According to semiconductor industry specific properties and from management strategy perspectives, front-end capacity of semiconductor manufacturing, CAPEX and R&D investment are selected as inputs; sales revenue, gross profit margin and operating incomes are selected as outputs for the analysis. In consideration of data specification, various scale and 'return to scale' of semiconductor suppliers as DMUs, input-oriented super efficiency under 'variable return to scale' assumption is employed for the estimation of yearly efficiency. Furthermore IDMs are scale-categorized to small, medium and large sized groups and their efficiencies are compared in statistical method. Through this analysis, the validity of large scale investment of semiconductor suppliers can be properly assessed in terms of management efficiency.
