The Effects of Franchisor Supervisor's Transformational Leadership on Franchisee's Organizational Trust, Group Cohesiveness and Organizational Commitment in the Franchise Food Service Industry

This study is to examine the effect of franchisor supervisor' transformational leadership (charisma, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration) on franchisee's organizational trust, group cohesiveness, organizational commitment in Korean food services franchise context. For these purposes, the data were collected from 500 food franchise owners or managers. The data were analyzed with path analysis using AMOS 18.0 and SPSS Win/PC 18.0. The findings are as follows: Firstly, charisma, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation of the transformational leadership had positive effects on organizational trust and group cohesiveness. Secondly, franchisee' organizational trust in a franchisor had a positive effect on group cohesiveness and organizational commitment, Finally, group cohesiveness had a positive effect on organizational commitment. At the end of this paper, theoretical and managerial implications, limitations, and further research directions are suggested.
