보험소비자 불만족이 생명보험계약의 해지에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구

본 연구는 보험소비자들의 불만족이 생명보험계약의 해지에 대하여 미치는 영향에 대하여 감독당국의 개입효과를 반영하여 분석함으로 보험경영 및 보험감독실무 그리고 보험소비자의 권익보호에 일조하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 분석을 위해 2000년 1월부터 2008년 12월까지 금융 감독원에 접수된 월별 생명보험민원데이터를 생명보험 소비자불만의 대리변수로 사용하였다. 실증분석을 실행한 결과 생명보험소비자의 불만을 대리하는 생명보험민원은 단기적으로는 해지율에 대하여 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만, 장기적으로는 감독당국의 사후적인 개입을 촉발시킴으로 인해 해지율에 대하여 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 보험소비자들의 불만족이 해지율에 대하여 미치는 본질적인 영향에 관한 정보와 더불어 감독당국의 개입이 보험소비자의 보호측면과 보험회사의 해지율 개선 모두에 있어서 중요한 공헌을 하고 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과는 보험경영의 안전성과 수익성을 확보하기 위하여 해지율을 개선할 필요가 있는 보험회사, 보험소비자를 보호하고 보험산업을 건전하게 육성할 필요성이 있는 보험감독당국, 그리고 연구자들에 매우 중요한 시사점을 제시해 준다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study examines the effects of life insurance consumer dissatisfaction on the life insurance policy lapses to give some contributions to life insurance companies, life insurance supervisory service, and life insurance consumer's interests. To test the hypotheses, the study uses monthly lapse ratio data and monthly life insurance complaints received in the Financial Supervisory Service of Korea as a representative of life insurance consumer dissatisfaction, from January 2000 to December 2008. The empirical test shows that life insurance consumer's complaints representing dissatisfaction with their life insurance contracts and insurance company, have a clearly positive(+) effects on the life insurance lapse behaviors in the short-term period. However, it has a negative(-) effects on it, causing posteriori control of insurance supervisory service. The short-term result shows the intrinsic effect of life insurance consumer dissatisfaction on the lapse ratio and the long-term results reveals the effect of the supervisory intervention caused after receiving life insurance consumer complaints.
