수출 경합국 간 비교를 통한 무역 경쟁력 강화 방안 모색: 한국과 네덜란드 일반기계산업을 중심으로

In this paper, we give attention to Dutch Machinery Industry which overtakes Korean Machinery Industry in terms of export since 2006 and try to compare export competitiveness in a Revealed Comparative Advantage(RCA), ESI(Export Similarity Index), CMS(Constant Market Share) and market share in export point of view by using UN Comtrade SITC statistics in 2005~2010. The empirical results indicate that Dutch Machinery Industry had a remarkable extension of export and GDP in its economy and became the direct competitor and most threatening factor of Korean Machinery Industry as a result of increase in ESI between Korean Machinery Industry. Furthermore, CMS analysis shows that the amount of increase in export by means of competitiveness enhancement is higher than Korean Machinery Industry which just enjoys increase in export by natural growth of demand. Export market share analysis finds that Korean and Dutch had fierce competition in terms of the number of items of which market share is ranked 1st~3rd, 19 versus 18 in 2010. But Dutch built more stable competitive advantage. These results suggest that Korean Machinery Industry needs to prepare a countermeasure for threat of Dutch Machinery Industry and benchmark a its development at the same time.
