한글 타이포그라피를 활용한 규방공예품 디자인 개발

In many countries, the development of products that is made using their unique images is actively working on. This trend is the cause for the growth of interest in Gyubang Craft and the necessity for developing it to fit the modern viewpoint. The purpose of this study is to show not only the uniqueness and beauty of Hangul (Korean traditional written language) but also the traditionalism of Gyubang Craft and to suggest the possibilities of producing a modern day Gyubang Craft, which is fit to the global market by integrating Gyubang Craft into graphic design namely, Typography. The method of this study is to look into the formative feature of Hangul, the meaning and functionality of Typography and the formative features and types of Gyubang Craft. On the basis of these findings, it will attempt to describe the process of producing Hangul Typography patterns and the result of producing the products of Gyubang Craft that were made using Hangul Typography. In an age of globalization, the uniqueness of the design is the key element as a condition of higher value and improvement of competitiveness. As the will to excavate the uniqueness of Korean traditional products increases, the interest in them is growing more and more. The rediscovery of Hangul is connected to this trend. To develop the traditional culture, it is needed to reconstruct the Korean unique culture in a modern way and develop it by integrating it into a modern craft. Therefore it is essential to improve the culture and craft in a modern way by integrating them into modern life. In this study, Hangul typography is produced using the vowels and consonants of Hangul to combine Gyubang craft to the typography that shows the formative features of Hangul. Gyubang craft that is both modern and Korean style is produced by applying the designed patterns to clothes, table mats, tea mats and bookmarkers. In conclusion, the successful combination of Hangul Typography and Gyubang Craft is to increase and maximize the functional purpose and the visual image of the designed items by Hangul Typography. Through this, it can be possible to make each product of Gyubang Craft individualized, differentiated and original.
