동북아 경제중심국가와 한국‧중국‧일본 투자협정 - 아시아 지역주의의 맥락에서 -

Since the late 1990s, Korea, China, Japan have gradually engaged in various economic initiatives and institutions for regional cooperation, including recent trials for Free Trade Agreements (FTA) among the three countries. Such initiatives cover from commercial cooperation to non- commercial cooperation such as environmental protection, cross cultural training program. Given these evolutions and the Korean external policy, ‘Central Nation in the Northeast Asia’(동북아중심국가), this article centers around the conclusion and structure of investment protection agreement among the three countries. It analyzes first of all the background and coverage of the policy of Central Nation in the Northeast Asia, by way of referring to several governmental documents. Second, the trilateral investment agreement is comparatively analyzed in context of the investment chapter of Korea-US FTA(effective since March 2012) and Korea-China / Korea-Japan investment protection agreement(effective each in 2007 and in 2003). Finally, it advances the prospects of Northeast Regionalism and the significance of the Trilateral Investment Agreement for regional cooperation.
